Wetu Building

At one time, many wetuash or traditional homes could be found across Nipnet. Today, we endeavor to build and re-build traditional homes and wetuash across Nipmuc homelands. 


Wetuash and accompanying homesites offer space for Nipmuc and other Indigenous people to gather, eat, shelter and decompress.

Nipmuc Traditional Homesite

Elm Park, Worcester, MA

On October 14 & 15, 2023, No Loose Braids facilitated the construction of a traditional Nipmuc homesite on Nipnet territory using materials sourced from the Douglas State Forest cedar swamps. This initiative helped create health within the cedar swamps and aided the ecosystem, freeing the land from the grip of decaying cedar and allowing young saplings to grow.
