Scott Strong Hawk Foster

Scott is a proud citizen of the Hassanamisco Nipmuc Band, the state recognized tribe of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and one of the original stewards of the Nipnet (the freshwater pond place) region known as present-day Central Massachusetts, Northern Rhode Island, and the Connecticut River Valley.

Strong Hawk is an Indigenous photographer who specializes in nature, portraiture, and cultural

preservation photography. With over forty years of experience in the field, his ethos is to

represent his family and his community authentically, to record compelling images that make

known the true stories of our heritage, values, and oral traditions, and to attest that we are still

here and thriving today. “It is ‘the why’ behind what I do.” Scott supports NLB, through his work

coupled with its mission to advocate for Tribal rights, and the cultural revitalization of

traditional practices.
